Thursday, August 22nd

We had a great day!!!  In Math, we did a Scavenger Hunt in our Student Reference Book to get an understanding of how the book is set up.  We analyzed our data from our shadow experiment and wrote out notes to be put in our binders.  We also made our class rules after reading a funny book called Dogs In Charge.  I was impressed with the students' ideas and their maturity of how they want their classroom to be run. 

HOMEWORK:
1. Return the "Getting to Know your child" sheet
2. Return the Keller Pride sheet
3. Finish coloring your puzzle piece.
4. Bring your gym shoes - You have PE tomorrow!!

First Day of School Pictures of 5-3!!

Wednesday, August 21st

It was great to meet and get to know all of the 5-3 students.  I am positive that we will have a terrific year!
A highlight of today was the starting of our Solar Energy Unit in Science.  We went outside 3 times today to trace our shadows.  Tomorrow we will be analyzing the data that we received today.

We also had our 1st Art lesson about Claude Monet.  We learned about Monet's artistic style, his favorite colors and subjects, about the word "caricature", and his family life.  We will make a writing connection to Monet's love of nature tomorrow in class.
